Amritsar, December 8

The Amritsar Bar Association has come up with a novel idea of providing free coaching to young advocates aspiring to crack the PCS (Judicial) examination.

The association has decided to hold free coaching classes for young advocates on Fridays and Saturdays. President of the Amritsar Bar Association, Parminder Singh Sethi, said, “Many young advocates, who practice in local courts will benefit from classes. The coaching will be free for all. Leading legal luminaries will deliver lectures on different aspects.”

The association has decided to take help of the faculty members of the Law Department of Guru Nanak Dev University.

“Besides, we have many senior and experienced advocates in courts, who can guide students well,” added Sethi.

He said the government had announced to fill 118 posts through PCS Judicial exam. The city does not have any coaching centres for helping students in passing the exam. Earlier, the aspirants joined coaching centres in Chandigarh or other places.

Sethi said so far around 25 candidates had shown interest in the coaching session. “The idea behind starting the training is to provide excellent training as is given by prominent centres in the state. Most of the young advocates often hesitate from paying hefty fees at these centers. We have decided to given three months training free of cost,” he added.

He said timings of the classes had been adjusted so that legal practice of advocates did not suffer.
