Amritsar, March 23

A local advocate, NPS Hira, on Saturday served a legal notice to reputed poet Kumar Vishwas for allegedly cracking jokes on the Sikh community in a demeaning manner. The notice served to him states that Vishwas did so at a programme organised to pay tribute to martyrs at the NIT ground in Faridabad on March 15. Hira alleged that he came to know about the same through the social media circulation of videos. Hira alleged that Vishwas used derogatory words for Sikhs in the programme while he was well aware of the fact that the programme was being recorded.

In the notice, the advocate asked Vishwas to unconditionally apologise in clear and unequivocal words on his website or through his social media accounts. He also asked him to pay visit to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for rendering apology failing which he would file a criminal complaint against him besides claiming damages. — TNS
