AMRITSAR:The food wing of the health department on Thursday conducted raids at shops in different areas and destroyed around 20 kg of khoya and 40 kg of barfi prepared using harmful chemicals and colours.

The food wing of the health department on Thursday conducted raids at shops in different areas and destroyed around 20 kg of khoya and 40 kg of barfi prepared using harmful chemicals and colours. District Health Officer Dr Lakhbir Singh Baghowalia said the raids were conducted under “Tandrust Punjab” mission. 

He said they also conducted a meeting with SSP (rural) and apprised him about the reports of synthetic milk being prepared in villages and sold in city. He said the police official have assured them of support during raids. — TNS
