Khankot man found dead, kin accuse four villagers of murder

Amritsar, August 17

A youth, identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Khankot village, falling under the Jandiala Guru police station, was found murdered on Friday. His body was recovered from a canal. Four persons of the same village have been accused of murdering him.

The police have registered a murder case in this connection while further investigation is under way. Those booked have been identified as Dilawar, Manpreet, Gabbar and Bhinda of the same village.

Randev Singh, brother of the deceased, alleged that the accused used to pressurise him for selling drugs for them. “He refused, so the accused, enraged over this, injected him with drugs and later threw his body into the canal,” he said.

Amritsar (Rural) SSP Parampal Singh said an investigation was under way. He said the postmortem report of the deceased was awaited to ascertain the cause of death. He said raids were on to nab the suspects. — TNS
