In a major breakthrough, Dr Jaswinder Singh, associate professor from Postgraduate Department of Zoology of Khalsa College, has got his study titled, “Global distribution of earthworm diversity”, published in a world-renowned journal, Science.

Selected by the American Association for Advancement of Science, the study finds its focus on global climate changes, leading to a shift in earthworm communities worldwide. It also highlights how earthworm species in temperate region are shifting to the tropics. The research was led by scientists from the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research and from the Leipzig University of Germany. — TNS
