The onset of winter brings some common health worries with itself, especially among children. With the rise in air pollution and low temperature, cold, cough and respiratory problems are most prevalent. Keeping in mind seasonal health awareness, a workshop on how to combat these health issues among kids was held at the Pehal government resource centre in Karampura on Friday.

Health expert Dr Parmeshwar Arora, MD (AY), BHU, Varanasi, inaugurated the workshop organised by Dabur India. A series of workshops is an awareness initiative aimed at safeguarding the health of underprivileged kids. These will be held across the country.

Under the initiative, workshops educating children about the need to build a stronger immune system to fight against illnesses and day-to-day infection and allergies will be conducted.

The first session of the workshop was conducted at the Pehal school for kids with special needs. The kids were also educated about the ways to boost their immunity through a basic hygiene and a nutritional diet.

Dr Arora, who is a senior consultant, Ayurvedic Department, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, said, "During cycles of a seasonal change, there can be sudden temperature variations, which may lead to illnesses like cough, cold and flu. Enhancing immunity is an effective way to fight diseases like cold, cough and respiratory problems. Going back to basics and increasing the intake of natural immunity boosters, along with healthy diet, and traditional, natural medicinal plants and herbs will definitely help build body's natural defence."
