Israel woman robbed

AMRITSAR: An Israeli woman was robbed by two motorcycle-borne persons on the Queens road here on Friday. She along with her four friends, one of them from the USA, were alighting from an autorickshaw when she was targeted.

An Israeli woman was robbed by two motorcycle-borne persons on the Queens road here on Friday. She along with her four friends, one of them from the USA, were alighting from an autorickshaw when she was targeted. The accused took away her bag containing four passports, four Israeli and one American,  $700, Rs 20,000, six credit cards, four e-visas and other belongings. The victim has been identified as Nitjana Lewiyan. The Civil Lines police said the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby was being scrutinised to identify the suspects. 

According to information, she along with her friends had come to a hotel on the Queens road from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport late on Friday evening. The road wore a deserted look at that point of time. She was waiting for the staff to pick her briefcases when the motorcycle-borne youths tried to snatch her bag. They hit her when she resisted their attempt. A case has been registered under Section 379-B of the IPC.

Rs 5,000 snatched

Three persons snatched Rs 5,000 from Vivek Kumar Yadav when he was going from New Green Field area to a locality on the Amritsar-Attari bypass road. He said that when he reached near Shalimar Resorts, three armed persons surrounded him and snatched his cash. 

Purse snatched

Two bikers snatched a woman’s purse on the Ram Tirath road. Complainant Anil Kumar Nayak said he, along with his wife, was going to Gaunsabad village on his scooter from Putlighar. When they reached a petrol pump on the Ram Tirath road, two persons on a bike snatched the purse of his wife. It contained a mobile phone, cash and other documents. The police are investigating the case.
