The Independent Student Federation (ISF) has renewed its protest against the liquor vend that had reopened outside the Durgiana Temple complex. The liquor vend was seized and closed down by the Excise Department for two months and has now been opened again.
“The intent behind the reopening of the vend seems to be maligned since we had stated that it posed a nuisance to the tourists and devotees, who come to the temple. We had consistently protested against it and will continue to do so. We will demonstrate outside the Excise Department on October 4 and also present a memorandum to the Excise Commissioner,” said Sandeep Singh Sunny, vice-president, ISF.
The ISF had earlier, too, engaged citizens and local shopkeepers, who had objected to the liquor vend operating in close proximity to the temple premises.
