Iodine deficiency: Health Dept to spread awareness in schools

AMRITSAR: The district Health Department has announced to hold a series of events to create awareness of Iodine deficiency disorder in schools from October 16 to 27.

The district Health Department has announced to hold a series of events to create awareness of Iodine deficiency disorder in schools from October 16 to 27.

In a meeting with the officials concerned of the programme, Civil Surgeon Narinder Kaur said seminars, workshops, medical check-up camps and contests such as slogan writing and painting would be organised in schools to create awareness.

District Immunisation Officer Ramesh Pal Singh said awareness programmes for the public would also be organised to teach them about the importance of iodine and correct storage of salt so that its iodine content remains intact.
