In coma since suicide attempt, schoolgirl shifted to Jalandhar

AMRITSAR: Jasmine, student of the Government Meritorious School, who attempted suicide recently and has been fighting for her life at a private hospital since then, was today shifted to a private hospital in Jalandhar on the request of her parents.

Jasmine, student of the Government Meritorious School, who attempted suicide recently and has been fighting for her life at a private hospital since then, was today shifted to a private hospital in Jalandhar on the request of her parents. She is in a coma.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Lakhbir Singh said she was shifted after her parents requested for the same as they hail from Jalandhar. Jasmine had taken admission to the meritorious school in the city around a year ago.

“As far as investigation is concerned, we are still waiting for her to regain consciousness. She has been in a coma and nothing has come out during the initial probe so far,” he said.

Jasmine, a student of Class XII, medical stream, had attempted suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room on January 10. She hails from Johal village in Jalandhar. The police found no suicide note from her room. There has been no information about why she took the decision to end her life.

According to the police, she had gone to attend extra classes but soon returned to bring her register that she had forgotten in her room. Later, a student, who had gone for cycling, while returning saw her hanging from the ceiling fan of her hostel room. She raised the alarm, following which the noose around her neck was untied and she was rushed to a private hospital
