Impact of personality on MBA students’ performance

A combined study was carried out by teaching faculty of premier management institutes on the role of personality and psychological capital on the academic performance of students in MBA setting. The study talks about impact of these elements on the performance of a management student.

A study authored by Ranjeet Nambudiri, professor, IIM Indore; Santosh Kumar Tiwari, assistant professor, IIM Amritsar; Rihana, assistant professor, OP Jindal Global University and Swati Ghulyani, assistant professor, Ahmedabad University, who was the 2019 Carolyn B Dexter award nominee at the Academy of Management 2019 Annual Conference.

The study finds that personality and psychological capital affect academic performance. The study carried out for a period of three terms on students of a prestigious management institution points out to role of personality as well, psychology in achieving academic excellence. The students having different personalities such as introverts, extroverts, among others were considered for the paper.

Santosh Kumar of IIM Amritsar said, a multiple studies had been conducted using personality as factor, but we wanted to find out the effect of another like psychological capital on the academic performance of the students.
