IIM holds leadership workshop

Debashis Chatterjee, mentor director, IIM Amritsar, professor and director, IIM Kozhikode, stressed on the importance of self-awareness as part of his leadership workshop—Leadership 4.0—A Retreat for High Potential Leaders on Monday.

Around 100 professionals from various industries, participants from small and medium enterprises, administrative officers, and academicians attended the workshop.

The event involved interactive and workshop mode of teaching with specific cases of corporate leadership practices, exercises and shared insights. The retreat was an exploration for the four themes—Authenticity, connectivity, productivity and possibility that constitute the four disciplines of Leadership 4.0. Chatterjee, particularly focused on the concept of self-awareness.

“We must have deeper awareness of self. I would like to tell people, especially young graduates, not follow set patterns, follow your awareness,”said Chatterjee.

The key takeaways from the workshop included the learning to work to the strengths without worrying about covering the weaknesses, learning what people capabilities one needs to win five years from now.

“The workshop addressed many issues. Some of them have been faced by me in running my startup. This was one informative and much required session for the business community,” said Sidharth Kapoor, a city-based young businessman. On the issue of permanent director for IIM-A, he said, the board for the same will be reconstituted and full board shall take the decision on the director. Ideally, it should happen in a period of three months.
