Educational institutes in the city marked the 72nd Independence Day with gusto. Ryan International School Amritsar conducted a special assembly to celebrate the day. Deputy Inspector Rajinder Singh, 52- Battalion, ITBP, Amritsar graced the occasion.

The premises of Shri Ram Ashram Public School was full of patriotic spirit and activity. MLA Sunil Dutti graced the occasion with his presence and was welcomed by school president Balbir Bajaj, Manager-cum-educational advisor SN Joshi and Principal Vinodita Sankhyan.The chief guest unfurled the National Flag along with other dignitaries. The event commenced with beautiful cultural programme followed by the energetic dance performance of the students. 

Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar (IIM-A) organised its flagship marathon event “Runbhoomi 2” to commemorate the day. The marathon heralded the 72nd Independence Day where the participants among students as well as the local community joined hands together & ran for the noble cause of spreading awareness about the menace of substance abuse among youth. The marathon kicked off at 5:30 am where 150 students from the institute participated and volunteers helped the participants with their bib numbers, route details, water, light refreshment & other requirements.

VIce-Chancellor GNDU Jaspal Singh Sandhu unfurled the National Flag at guest house lawns of the university. Teachers, employees and students in large numbers celebrated the day with great enthusiasm. Kamaljit Singh, Dean, Academic Affairs welcomed the guests and gave an lecture on the struggle for independence. 

Cabinet Minister Sarkaria unfurls National Flag

Tarn Taran: Cabinet Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria unfurled the National Flag in a district-level function organised on the 72nd Independence Day. He took salute from the contingent of the Punjab police, home guards, NCC and students of different educational institutes. 

The minister highlighted the development schemes of the state government. Local MLA’s along with the  officials of different departments were also present.
