Hospital comes up with ‘shagun’ scheme

AMRITSAR: To celebrate the birth of a girl child in Adlakha Hospital, the management has come up with an scheme, according to which the baby girl will be given Rs 11,000 as shagun.

To celebrate the birth of a girl child in Adlakha Hospital, the management has come up with an scheme, according to which the baby girl will be given Rs 11,000 as shagun.

Sukanya account on her name shall be opened in any of the nationalised banks. The girl at the age of 21 years shall be eligible to receive the money. The parents can add money as per their wish. MLA OP Soni inaugurated the scheme at the hospital.

Roshni Adlakha from Adlakha Hospital said, “The scheme has been started to welcome the birth of girl child and make an effort to change the mindset of society towards girl child.” Soni distributed passbooks to three newborn girls at the hospital. The mothers were presented with bouquets and were gifted photographs.

Soni said, “This is a a highly appreciable step taken by the hospital and it should be followed by other hospital throughout India.” The function was attended by dignitaries, including renound folk singer Gurmeet Bawa
