A hoax bomb call left the city police on high alert here on Monday evening. A search operation was launched at many places while vehicles were also checked, but the police found nothing. Later, the police arrested a teenager from Tarn Taran for allegedly misleading the police and creating a bomb scare. Appropriate action has been initiated against him, the police said.

Police Commissioner SS Srivastava on Tuesday released a statement and issued a warning to those who mislead the police and create a troublesome atmosphere by making hoax calls.

According to information, the city police got a call at its helpline (112). The caller informed about presence of a time bomb in a green garbage dump. Though the duty officer sought his name, he did not tell.
