History-sheeters on radar, Commissioner seeks data

AMRITSAR: Newly-appointed Amritsar Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill today held a meeting with senior police officials and SHOs and asked them to identify drug prone areas and collect data of active drug traffickers in different parts of the city.

Newly-appointed Amritsar Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill today held a meeting with senior police officials and SHOs and asked them to identify drug prone areas and collect data of active drug traffickers in different parts of the city.

He asked the officials to keep a vigilant eye on the movement of history-sheeters and notorious criminals in order to check drug peddling.

“Being a border district, drug peddlers often target the city. We have to be alert enough to bring them to the book. The government has instructed to nail the drug traffickers, besides stressing on the rehabilitation of the drug victims,” said the Commissioner.

He also laid emphasis on finding solutions to the traffic menace. Traffic police officials were instructed to check drunk driving using alco-meters.

The Commissioner also visited the checkpoints installed in various parts of the city.
