Heroin seized from 2 Tarn Taran residents

The CIA staff have arrested two Tarn Taran residents for allegedly possessing 250 gm of heroin here yesterday. The police also seized Rs 40,000 of drug money from their possession.

They were identified as Surjit Sigh alias Bhola of Marhi Kambo village and Sitara Singh alias Bhalwan of Mourh village falling in Patti tehsil in Tarn Taran. They were coming on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by the CIA staff of the city police following a tip-off. The police authorities said they were involved in smuggling and selling heroin in Amritsar.

A case under Sections 21, 25, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the two who were brought on police remand for further interrogation. Parminder Singh, investigating officer, said they were trying to ascertain the source of the contraband and find out their clients in Amritsar.

Meanwhile, the police arrested Harpreet Singh of Gawal Mandi and Kuljit Singh alias Saba for possessing 2 gm and 1 gm of heroin respectively. Another local resident, Harpreet Singh alias Bobby of Sarabjit Nagar on the Tarn Taran road, was held with 60 intoxicant tablets. — TNS
