The Health Department has vaccinated 8,887 children in district under Mission Indradhanush, which was launched by the government four months ago. Addressing a press conference here today, Civil Surgeon, Dr Jai Singh, said, “Under the scheme, the children are immunised against seven widely prevalent diseases.”

He said the focus of the of the campaign was to vaccinate every child and cover the immunity gap of children, who had failed to get vaccinated on time due to any reason. “Special attention is being given to centres where no immunisation work has been done in the past three months,” he added.

He said employees of the department working at the grass root level had been sensitised so that they could create awareness among the people. He added that the scheme would help prevent children from falling prey to preventable diseases. — TNS
