The WEEK-Hansa Research Best University Survey 2019 has placed Guru Nanak Dev University at seventh rank in North Zone Multi-Disciplinary Universities and at 14th rank in the All India Multi-Disciplinary Universities. With a quantum jump of six positions, the university has improved its rank from 20th position last year to 14th position this year. The university has fetched a score of 457 out of 1,000-point scale.

The methodology adopted for the ranking was based on perceptual score (out of 400) plus factual score (out of 600). The perceptual score for the university was calculated based on the number of nominations received and the actual rank given to the university. The factual score was calculated using the information collected from universities and other secondary sources on age and accreditation, infrastructure and other facilities, faculty, research and academics, student intake and industry exposure and placements.

The survey provides insight into the hierarchy of multi-disciplinary and technical universities in the country.

GNDU Vice–Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu said the students of the university would be benefitted with this ranking in the healthy, intellectually stimulating and progressive atmosphere. It will help the university to incorporate experiential and outcome-based learning into its curriculum, he added.
