Gang busted, four arrested

Almost a year after a robbery incident, the police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of four persons.

The police recovered a lap-top, sharp-edged weapons and a tablet from the possession of the accused.

Those arrested have been identified as Joga Singh of Jhander village, Manjit Singh of Naushehra village, Aman Kumar of Verka and Baldev Singh of Batala road.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakhbir Singh said the gang was involved in more than 15 robberies. They had robbed a transporter of Rs 2.50 lakh on October 23 last year. For the past one year, they had been evading arrest.

Yesterday, the police received a tip-off that they were going to do a robbery on the Tarn Taran road.

Following this, they were arrested. They were produced in the court and brought on police remand.
