A resident of Noori Mohalla, identified as Rocky, died of consuming liquor allegedly laced with some poisonous substance here today.
The police has booked three persons, including a woman, following statement of Sonia, wife of the deceased. The Division C police has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC in this connection. No arrests have been made so far. Those booked were identified as Sunny, Babble, Rambo and Pup.
Sonia stated to the police that the accused took Rocky to their house under a plan and offered him liquor laced with poison. They themselves did not consume liquor. She alleged that the accused later dumped Rocky outside their residence and fled from the spot.
Sonia said when she came out of her house she found that Rocky was not well. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he died today morning.
Investigating officer Karamjit Singh said a murder case was registered on statement of wife of the deceased. He said the body was handed over to the family after the postmortem examination. Only postmortem report would ascertain the exact cause of Rocky’s death, he added. He said further investigation was on and no one was arrested till now.
