Global Institutes held annual Global Football League—Season 1, on its campus here today. The tournament was inaugurated by Chairman Dr BS Chandi at a colourful ceremony by releasing the tournament plaque, which was lifted by multi-coloured balloons.

In the knockout tournament, a total of eight teams from different departments including B.Tech (Mechanical), B.Tech (ECE and IT), B.Tech (CSE), B.Tech (Civil), polytechnic diplomas, B.Sc (HMCT and ATHM), MBA/MCA/M.Tech, agriculture/B.Com/BCA/BBA/agriculture participated.

In the first semifinal, B.Tech (Mechanical) team beat B.Tech (Civil) team 5-4 and in the second semifinal, the diploma team beat B.Tech (CSE) lads 4-0.

The diploma team thrashed B.Tech (Mechanical) 2-1 to win the final.

Vice-chairman Akashdeep Chandi said the motive behind such tournaments was to encourage students to show their talent in sports so as to boost their overall personality.

Director Rajesh Goel congratulated the winning team and said outdoor sports will help students to maintain their physical fitness. — TNS
