The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Gurwinder Singh, the owner of Rajpal Pansari firm in connection with the seizure of a huge haul of Ayurvedic drugs from the Golden Avenue area late last evening.

His name has figured during the investigations of earlier two seizures of medicines containing a high opium content.

In continuation of its drive against the misuse of Ayurveda drugs, the NCB confiscated yet another haul of Ayurveda drugs including Kamini and Barshsha from a residential complex turned into a godown in the Golden Avenue area here late yesterday evening. The seized medicines have a high opium content and are being widely misused by drug addicts.

According to NCB officials, the confiscated medicines are worth more than Rs 2 crore in the black market while their actual worth is pegged at Rs 70 to Rs 80 lakh.

Guleria said several other names have also cropped up in the investigations and more seizures are likely to be made in the near future.

This was the third major seizure in the past 10 days. Earlier, the NCB confiscated huge stocks from a medical store in Arorian wali gali on January 4 and then from an illegal godown in Banke Bihari Gali on Batala Road a day before yesterday.
