Amritsar, June 15

Farmers and labour rights activists under the leadership of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee staged a protest outside the PSPCL office for the second consecutive day on Friday demanding at least 16-hour power supply for tube wells during the paddy season.

The association also demanded that labourers should be given 200 units of electricity for consumption at home. The committee also demanded release of tubewell connections for which demand notices had earlier been issued to farmers.

General Secretary of the committee Sarwan Singh Pandher said farmers should be allowed to get the load of their tubewells increased under the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme by paying a fee of Rs 1,200 per kW.
