Faculty development programme begins at BBK DAV College

Seven day faculty development programme on the theme “The Road Ahead – Opportunities Challenges and Perspectives in Higher Education” was inaugurated at BBK DAV College for Women on Thursday.

The programme is designed to enhance the knowledge and skill of academicians, educational experts, administrators, teachers and policy makers. Dr TS Benipal, dean, college development council, Guru Nanak Dev University, presided over the function as the chief guest.

The guests of honour on the occasion were Dr PS Grover, chest specialist and owner of Grover Hospital and Principal of Hindu College Dr PK Sharma. Prof Gurvinder Singh, department of computer science, GNDU, was the keynote speaker.

Principal Pushpinder Walia in her welcome address extended a very warm welcome to the dignitaries and enlightened the forum with the importance of faculty development programme. Dr Simerdeep, dean, academics and head of department of psychology acquainted the participants with the vision and mission of the programme.

In his inaugural address, Dr TS Benipal congratulated the college for organising such a great venture. Sharing his rich experience of teaching and learning with the participants he said, “One should always remain learner and learn a lot of new things from our environment every day.”

In the keynote address, Prof Gurvinder Singh presented the presentation on ‘Machine learning for Internet of Things’ in which he shared his views about the role of internet in transforming our current society. The inaugural session was followed by two technical sessions. The resource person for technical session-II was Prof Gurvinder Singh, while Dr Rajesh Sharma was the resource persons for session-III.
