A three-day entrepreneurship awareness camp organised at Global Institutes for the students of diploma courses concluded here recently.

The camp was organised in collaboration with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh, and sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad.

Jaspal Kaur (project director), RS Chatha (retired bank officer), Mandeep Singh (trainee, Bharti Walmart), Abhishek (assistant professor in a college), Guneet (RBI counsellor), Kirti Beri (assistant professor in a college) and Sukhwinder Gill, director, Krishi Vigyan Kender apprised the students of various concepts of entrepreneurship.

Dr Akashdeep Singh Chandi, vice-chairman, Global Institutes, welcomed the experts from various fields and Charanjit Singh, Principal, highlighted the basic purpose of organising the awareness camp.

Jaspal Kaur in her introductory address enlightened the students with various types of career options that present generation looks upon while neglecting the one that values their caliber the most that is entrepreneurship. She highlighted various perks of being an entrepreneur apart from name and fame. She also explained the various types of ventures an individual could take up depending upon ones caliber and interest.

Mandeep Singh emphasised on the importance of marketing in an industry and also the role played by the same to uplift the economy and turnover of an industry as well as that of a nation. Abhishek and Guneet emphasised the role of taxes thereby contributing in the overall development of an economy. Kirti Beri explained the role of time management and advised the students to improve their soft skills in order to become a successful entrepreneur. Chatha drew attention of the gathering towards much heard but less known terms called recurring deposits and fixed deposits along with their interest rates.
