Elderly perform ‘bhangra’ after knee replacement

A number of elderly patients, who underwent successful knee replacement surgeries, shook their legs to Bhangra beats at an event to celebrate Baisakhi on Sunday. The event was organised by Fortis Escorts Hospital in which various myths related to joint replacements were busted. There were around 100 patients, who took part in the event and narrated their challenges in dealing with the pain.

More than 60 elderly couples danced on Bhangra beats with Dr Mohit Arora.

“Earlier, I used to feel excruciating pain every time I bend down. But, today, on this auspicious day of Baisakhi, I am able do Bhangra.” said OP Gupta, (61) a businessman.

Another patient, DPS Kang (74), a retd subedar, said, “I was in pain for many years I got myself treated. Not only me but my family members, including my wife and relatives opted for surgery.”

Dr Mohit Arora, senior consultant, chief orthopaedics and joint replacement at the hospital, said, “The event was organised to celebrate the healthy recovery of our patients.”
