Dutch woman caught at border

A resident of Netherlands, identified as Diana Melagon, has been arrested by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the Pakistan border near Rorawala village, falling under Kahangarh border outpost.

During investigation, her visa for India was found expired. Acting on the statement of BSF authorities that she was looking to cross over to Pakistan in an illegal manner, the police have registered a case under Section 3 of the Indian Passport Act and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act.

Harpal Singh, investigating officer, said she was produced in a court that sent her to one-day police remand on Sunday. He said further investigation was under way. He said Diana was found roaming near the international border in the late evening hours on Saturday due to which Border Security Force personnel got suspicious and arrested her.

She was later handed over to the police after conducting an initial probe.
