Drug peddlers held with 1 kg of heroin, cash and pistol

AMRITSAR: The rural police have nabbed three drug peddlers and recovered one kg of heroin, Rs 23 lakh, and ammunition from their possession.

The rural police have nabbed three drug peddlers and recovered one kg of heroin, Rs 23 lakh, and ammunition from their possession.

The key has been accused identified as Sarabjeet Singh, alias Sabha, a resident of Fathewal. While his accomplices has been identified as Simarjeet Singh, a resident of Sahowal and Balwainder Masih, a resident of Gurala. The police have impounded their Swift car.

Vikramjeet Singh Dugal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural) said, “The police got information about the movement of drug peddlers in the Ajanala area. A special naka was established to nab them at Sarangdev village. The accused were on a Swift car and heading toward city. The cops intercepted the car for checking and recovered the drug money and a pistol from the possession of accused.” SSP Vikramjeet Singh was also present on the spot.

According to information, the key accused Sarabjeet Singh earned lakh from the drug money and recently bought luxury cars and property worth Rs 75 lakh. The police were suspicions about his source of income and keeping a tab on him.

“During preliminary investigation, we found that Sarabjeet was involved in cross-border drug trade for the last two years. He is facing a case of robbery but not booked for drug peddling. He bought movable and immovable property from drug money. He delivered several cross-border consignments in the past. We are investigating his links with Pakistan-based drug smugglers and local peddlers”, added SSP Duggal.

The sources informed that this time Sarbjeet received around two-and-half-kg of heroin and sold a large share of the drug. The police have seized Rs 23 lakh, which they earned after selling heroin. Police officials claimed that they were hopeful the accused would confess about more links and consignments delivered in the past.
