The CIA staff today arrested a notorious drug peddler, identified as Paramvir Singh, and recovered 105 gm of heroin besides a weighing machine from his possession.

He was travelling in a car when has intercepted by a police team near Bedi School on Wadali Road in the Chheharta area. Paramvir originally hailed from Rajada village, Gurdaspur, and was at present residing in Paris Avenue in Chheharta.

Police officials in a press note issued here today said the accused was a habitual offender. He was earlier arrested by the special staff in 2014 with 1 kg of heroin and later by the Tarn Taran police with 70 gm of heroin. He was currently on bail in both the cases. After coming out of jail, he restarted his nefarious activities.

They said the accused was produced in the court and brought on police remand. They were trying to ascertain the source of the contraband. Investigations revealed that Paramvir used to sell the contraband in retail to the drug addicts in Amritsar and neighbouring areas.

A fresh case under Sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them while his car was impounded. More recoveries and arrests are likely to be made during the further course of investigations.
