Devotees throng Golden Temple

AMRITSAR: Devotees in large numbers turned up at the Golden Temple to pay obeisance and took a holy dip in its Amrit Sarovar to celebrate the Parkash Purb of the tenth Sikh master, Guru Gobind Singh on Sunday.

Devotees in large numbers turned up at the Golden Temple to pay obeisance and took a holy dip in its Amrit Sarovar to celebrate the Parkash Purb of the tenth Sikh master, Guru Gobind Singh on Sunday.

‘Jalaun’ (show of splendour), precious and historic Sikh artefacts were displayed at the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple, Akal Takht and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai. Fireworks were held to mark the occasion. Students from different schools conducted kirtan in front of the Akal Takht.

SGPC chief Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal congratuled the devotees on the occasion.

Giani Balwinder Singh, head granthi of the Golden Temple, exhorted the people to follow the directions of Guru Gobind Singh.

Celebrations at airport

The Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport was beautifully decorated. Bhangra presentation was the centre of attraction. Airport Director Manoj Chansoria said passengers were given jute bags to sensitise them to environment.
