A team of the District Health Department conducted an inspection at the roadways workshop here and issued a challan after dengue larvae was detected at the place.

The District Epidemiologist, Dr Madan Mohan said, “The water was standing in the worn out tyres stored at the workshop and larva was floating inside.” He said that workshop authorities were asked to move the tyres and other waste material to other place.

A civil surgeon, Dr Narinder Kaur, said the department had conducted extensive drive from the beginning and as a result of which only 15 cases of dengue has been reported so far. She said in the current season, the department has issued challans to around 150 establishments where mosquito larvae was found.

“The figures of dengue patients from other districts are much more. Even last year, the district had reported around 300 cases till October 15,” she said adding that Health Department and Municipal Corporation had already started anti-mosquito fogging in city areas.

The MC teams today organised a fogging drive in various localities of Chehharta. The health officials said as the season was changing, the residents must be more vigilant of presence of mosquito in their homes. “We advise people to inspect their homes every week and ensure that no pot, utensil or junk material is lying in open,” said Dr Madan Mohan.
