Amritsar, November 12
The CIA staff team, which went to Delhi for bringing two notorious weapon suppliers on production warrant, had to return empty-handed owing to some formalities. According to the police, they would now be brought by the Delhi police, but the city police, at first, have to submit the production warrant orders to their Delhi counterparts.
The CIA staff want to interrogate two notorious weapon suppliers Preet Phagwara and Raja Pahariya in connection with the arrest of gangster Amanpreet Singh Rinka and his accomplice Rohit. As per police officials, both Preet and Raja used to supply sophisticated weapons to the gangsters in Punjab. They were nabbed by the Delhi police earlier this month for allegedly possessing illegal arms.
Vavinder Mahajan, in charge, CIA staff, said the Delhi police refused to hand over the two to the CIA staff team on production warrant. They informed that they would do so before the court and that too upon submission of the production warrant orders. He said the formality would be completed on Tuesday and the Delhi police would bring them to Amritsar on Friday to hand over their custody before the court.
Rinka and Rohit were nabbed following a shootout on November 5. The police had recovered two country-made weapons from them. Mahajan said the court had sent them to judicial remand.
Rinka was a close aide of notorious gangster Rajat Malhotra, alias Karan Masti, who was found dead in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on November 1. Masti and Rinka were involved in the killing of Congress Coucillor Gurdeep Pehalwan besides robbing a jeweller in Guru Bazaar recently.
It has been learnt that the Division B police would bring Rinka on production warrant and arrest in connection with Congress councillor’s murder case on Tuesday.
