Deceased watchman’s family assured of compensation

The district administration has assured the family members of Jagtar Singh (35), who was electrocuted on Thursday at Pungrain Godown, Dhand, of a compensation of Rs 1.25 lakh.

Members of the Kisan Sangharash Committee, Punjab, staged a protest against the death of Jagtar, who was working as a watchman at a foodgrain godown.

The members of the committee staged a dharna on the main road here today, which lead to a road blockage for hours.

SDM Amandeep Kaur convened a meeting of the officials concerned and representatives of the company which assured the deceased’s family to give an assistance of Rs 1.25 lakh, besides pension for the deceased’s widow.
