Amritsar, March 28

Members of the Gramin Dak Sevaks Union organised a protest outside the main post office here today. The union leaders stated that the state government is deliberately denying them the benefits of the Seventh Central Pay Commission.

Union leader Jasbir Singh said, “A departmental committee had earlier given a report that Dak Sevaks should also be brought under the ambit of the benefits.” He said that the Dak Sevaks are being paid meagre salaries even though they are the ones who run the services at the grassroots level. The protest here was held on a call given by the All-India Union of the Dak Sevaks. Another leader Harbhajan Singh said that the central leadership has already announced to hold a national-level protest in Delhi on April 6.
