Cycle expedition to sensitise people on ecosystem

In order spread awareness about the Indian Army and exhort people to save the diverse ecological system, a mountain terrain cycle expedition was flagged off by Brig Sandeep Singh, Commander, Double Victory Brigade, from the Beas Military Station here today.

A team comprising an officer, a JCO and 10 Jawans of the 11th Battalion, The Brigade of the Guards, undertook the expedition, which will culminate at Puh in Manali on March 24.

Defence spokesperson PK Sharma said the expedition would cover an approximate distance of 400 km at height ranging from 6,726 feet to 14,931 feet.

Primarily, an adventure activity, the cycling expedition aimed at instilling a sense of adventure, professional bonding and esprit de corps among the jawans.

During the 12-day expedition, the team will not only visit the local villages and enhance awareness about the Indian Army but also exhort the locals to preserve the rich and diverse ecological system in their surroundings.
