Amritsar, December 21

The starting of a new flight from Amritsar to Nanded Sahib has also triggered a credit war between Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla and BJP MP Shwait Malik. Both the leaders are claiming credit for starting the new flight.

While the office of BJP leader Malik termed it as a gift from PM Narendra Modi for the holy city ahead of the New Year, the Congress leader posted a video to congratulate the city residents for the new flight.

Both the MPs are known for holding meetings with airport officials and for highlighting the cause of better air connectivity.

However, the way in which the BJP leader went a step ahead by criticising the previous UPA government for the wrongdoings which caused loss to Amritsar airport, the city residents feel that the senior leaders should refrain from making local development issues a reason for their political tussle.

“The city should benefit from the presence of two MPs, if both can work together in harmony it will be for the betterment of the city. Malik, being a BJP leader can assure all help from the Central government and Aujla, being a Congress leader can provide assistance from the State government,” said Jagwant Singh a local resident.

“The goal of better air connectivity could be achieved if everybody starts working towards it. The leaders should not make it an ego issue,” said another resident Sumit Mahajan.
