Amritsar, February 22

The Joint Front of the Central Public Works Department employees staged a protest outside the office of the Executive Engineer, CPWD, on Ram Tirath Road here today.

The employees alleged that some secretaries of the department are forcing corporatisation of the department, which is against the interests of the employees.

Surinder Kumar, secretary of the Amritsar branch of the Joint Front, said that with the department’s conversion into a corporation, the interests of the nation and the employees would be affected.

The protesters stated that they would oppose the government’s move to convert the department into a corporation with all their might. Surinder Kumar said that the protests against the proposal are being held all over the country. — TNS
