Amritsar, July 14

The transfer of five sanitary inspectors has become a bone of contention for the MC. Two inspectors — Amar Singh and Ravinder Kumar — have got stay orders from a court while three others, finally, have left the station as per the orders.

On June 25, the local bodies idepartment had issued transfer orders for Amar Singh, Vijay Sharma, Rakesh Marwah, JP Babar and Ravinder Kumar.

The sanitary inspectors were reluctant to leave the city as three of them were transferred to Pathankot and two to Phagwarha and Mohali. Sanjay Khosla, president of the Safai Mazdoor Union, had written a letter to Karnesh Sharma, Director, Local Governments, on July 10 to take disciplinary action against the sanitary inspectors, who were defying his orders by not leaving the station. — TNS
