Cops suspended for ‘harassing’ family

Amritsar: Two cops have been suspended by the SSP, Amritsar rural, for harassing a family. The accused, SI Joginder Singh and Head Constable Balwinder Singh, had raided the residence of Jagtar Singh in Ghariyala village. They claimed that they received specific input that Jagtar Singh was involved in drug peddling. But residents of the village came out in support of Jagtar, claiming he was an innocent man. SSP J Elanchezian was informed, following Harjit Singh, SHO, Bhindi Saida, was sent to investigate the matter. He found no truth in the claims of two cops. Three thieves arrested

The Galliara police have arrested three thieves, including a woman. Two stolen mobile phones and a wallet have been recovered. The accused have been identified as Amit Kumar alias Kalu of Baba Jiwan Singh Colony, Vipin Kumar of Vishnu Nagar, Bihar, and Sarabjit Kaur of Gurdaspur. According to the police, they were active at Golden Temple and nearby areas and used to steal the belongings of devotees. TNS
