The Amritsar rural police today claimed to have found some clues in the bank-robbery incident in which armed robbers looted Rs 2.40 lakh from an Axis Bank branch on the Chaugawan-Khasa road yesterday. Parampal Singh, SSP, Amritsar rural police, said they were on similar cases that occurred in the past with by adopting the same modus operendi. An ‘operation’ was under way and hopefully the cops would crack the case soon. The robbers fired in the air immediately after barging into the bank premises by shattering the glass door. The unarmed security guard only helped the cause of the armed looters.

The miscreants pulled out the DVR system of the CCTV cameras before escaping. They took the staff and the customers to a side and threatened to shoot them in case they raised their voice. One of the robbers went into the cabin of the cashier and took out Rs 2.40 lakh.
