The visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resulted in a makeover for the city. The civic body along with the district administration had ensured cleanliness not only alongside roads but also across the city besides appropriate traffic management. Residents say such sanitation and management should be a routine affair.

Trudeau, who is on an eight-day visit to India, was in Amritsar today. Before his arrival, roads were levelled, garbage was removed, garbage dumps were covered and cops were deputed on several roads to streamline the traffic.

Indu Arora, a social activist, said, “I wish VVIPs visit the city frequently as this will ensure a makeover. I have noticed this remarkable change during VVIPs’ visits. The Municipal Corporation and the district administration must ensure such management routinely. Even plants were watered. I am amazed at this.”

Ridhi Khanna, a dietician, said, “We are happy that Trudeau received such a warm welcome. I will like the city to wear the same look forever.”

Deepak Babbar, an environmentalist, feel VVIP culture shouldn’t be followed but traffic and cleanliness must be maintained like this.
