Chemist shop owner robbed, two arrested

The Mehta police have booked four persons for allegedly robbing an ayurveda chemist shop owner in Jalal village, falling under Mehta police station here. Though the incident occurred on June 4, a complaint was lodged with the police on Wednesday.

Among those booked are Ranpreet Singh of Mehsimpur Khurd village, Rajbir Singh of Dharmuchak village, Navjot Singh of Butar Kalan village and their unknown accomplice. The police have arrested Ranpreet and Rajbir while others two were yet to be nabbed. A case under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered against them.

Victim Baldev Singh, a resident of Jalal village, informed the police that he was in his shop when the accused came on a bike bearing registration number PB-17B-6887 at around 9.15 pm on June 4. They snatched cash from him and fled away. He said he investigated about it on his own to identify the robbers before lodging a complaint.

Investigating officer Harpal Singh said the police had recovered the bike and further investigation was under way. He said raids were on to nab Navjot Singh.
