Amritsar, February 22

The Railways has notified resumption of Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Superfast Express (12241/12242) from Saturday (February 23). The train was cancelled due to foggy weather.

In addition, the Railways has also allowed the train to halt at Kharar station on experimental basis. The temporary arrangement will remain in existence for the next six months before taking any final call over it.

A frequent passenger, Jasbir Singh, said it was a welcome move to restore the train. Hundreds of passengers travel to Chandigarh every day. Another passenger, Harjit Singh, said that in the absence of rail services, they were compelled to travel through buses. — TNS
