Chief Election Officer, Punjab, VK Singh took stock of the preparations being made for counting votes on March 11 at counting centres in the district. Senior officials including ADGP VK Bhawra, Deputy Commissioner Basant Garg, Commissioner of Police Nageshwar Rao and others were present at the meeting with the CEO, Punjab.

He also visited the counting centres at Khalsa College and ITI, Ranjit Avenue. He said the participation of the candidates in the counting process has been ensured so that they can judge for themselves that the process is being conducted impartially and fairly.

He added that a complete ban on taking mobile phones inside the counting centres has been imposed besides a ban on carrying weapons near the counting stations. A media centre has been established in all counting stations which would provide details of the counting process, photographs and videos of the counting centre. He told the police officials to ensure that proper security measures are taken on the day.
