The summer camp and festival at the art gallery hosted a caricature workshop by Rahul Kumar, an award winning sketch and caricature artist from city. The demo workshop focused on teaching the nuances of sketching and drawing to the art students, along with giving them on the spot assignments. “These workshops are designed to impart technical knowledge about various art genres. They help the students as well as art lovers understand in detail how each art piece comes about,” said Rahul.

The gallery also hosted an exhibition of sculpture, sketch art and paintings. At least 100 paintings and art works were put on display at the exhibition, featuring works of senior artists Karamjit Singh, Atul Mehra and Kanwal Sehgal. The art students and participants at the summer art camp interacted with artists and also shared a tip or two about the techniques used in creating the works on display. “Our activities during the month-long festival are aimed at giving a holistic exposure to the students about the art genres and the related techniques. From the enthusiasm of the children, it can be made out that the exhibition-cum-workshop is getting a good response and we plan to continue with them every week,’ said RMS Chinna, who inaugurated the event.
