A youth, identified as Gagandeep Singh, was stabbed to death while his father and brother sustained grievous injuries after a group of persons attacked them over a minor issue of repairing and replacing of a set-top box here on Saturday. Around 12 persons have been booked, the police said.

Gagandeep’s father Dharamvir Singh and brother Rocky were present at the office of cable operator Mehnga Singh at Tahliwala Bazaar on Sultanwind road where the deceased worked.

ADCP JS Walia said Prince, one of the accused, had complained about some fault in his set-top box but it could not be repaired even after repeated complaints. This led to a quarrel between the two.

Prince along with his friends went to the office to complain about the set-top box on Saturday. This led a heated argument which turned ugly in no time as the accused attacked the employees and the cable owner with sharp edge weapons and bricks.

Gagandeep got multiple stab injuries. Dharamvir and Rocky also sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital from where Dharamvir was referred to the GNDH. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital.

The condition of Dharamvir Singh is stated to be critical.

Besides Prince, the police have registered a case against Manpreet, Hardeep, Resham Singh and eight others. Walia said further investigation was under progress and raids were on to nab the accused who had been on the run.
