The police arrested six youths for producing cracker-like sound from the modified silencer of their Bullet bike on the Amritsar road late last night. They were held for causing panic among motorists and pedestrians. One of them, however, managed to flee. Later, they were released on bail.

The accused have been identified as Sikandar Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Gurjit Singh and Mani. The youth who fled is Jobanjit Singh.

The police said the accused, under the influence of liquor, were taking turns to produce sounds of gunshots from their Bullet bike (PB46X8600). A police party, headed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Narinder Singh, reached the spot and arrested six of them.

They were later released on bail by the police.
