20-year-old alleges rape

AMRITSAR: A 20-year-old girl has accused an Army man of allegedly raping her on the pretext of marriage. A a resident of Jodhe village, she lodged a complaint with the Khilchian police following which the suspect, identified as Kamaljit Singh of Muchhal village, was booked under Section 376 of the IPC.

A a resident of Jodhe village, she lodged a complaint with the Khilchian police following which the suspect, identified as Kamaljit Singh of Muchhal village, was booked under Section 376 of the IPC. The girl had lodged her complaint on March 15. A probe was conducted by DSP (Investigations) who recommended the case registration. The police authorities said raids were on to nab the suspect who had been evading arrest since the registration of the FIR. Baljinder Singh, investigating officer, said the accused used to make physical relations with her whenever he came on leave. He said further investigation was under way. TNS
