Amritsar, January 21

After the introduction of many domestic flights from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, a couple of flights are likely to be pulled out.

According to airport director Manoj Chansoria, an airline stated that its solitary flight between Amritsar and Goa, and one of the two flights between Amritsar and Bengaluru would be withdrawn. The reason given by the airline is not enough passengers. He said that it was for the first time that the air link between the holy city and the southern peninsula was established after one flight to Hyderabad and two flights to Bengaluru were announced. He said as far as their record w

as concerned, the response was good from passengers.

Aviation experts, like Gunbir Singh, who also deals in tour and travel industry, opined that it was bound to occur after the introduction of a spate of new flights.

Now, the holy city is conveniently air linked with northern, southern, eastern and western parts of the country with flights to Srinagar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Guwahati. He said the passenger response to Amritsar-Dehradun flight was also impressive. Efforts are under way to increase the frequency of Amritsar-Nanded flight from twice a week to three times.
